We somehow think we should just know how to be married. Yet it should almost seem obvious by divorce rates that something is lacking. How odd that we believe it is bad luck, as if we had no control over our own destinies.
Because I am happily married today, many people tell me I was just lucky. Considering the hard work, education and commitment I’ve put into my marriage, I find these comments by well-meaning people to be naïve.

"Even though my wife and I have been happily married for 35 years, we enjoyed every minute of Anne and Brian’s humorous and inspiring seminar, and were impressed with the solid concepts they presented and the wealth of practical tools we came away with for strengthening our marriage even more! When under stress generally speaking a woman works through it by talking about it. She calls up one of her girlfriends. A man does not call one of his guy friends to complain about his bad day. A man works through his stress by withdrawing and being quiet by himself, or doing some mindless activity like watching TV.
